​Parka Pictures is an independent animation production and development company based in Copenhagen, Denmark, creating original animated feature films and television series for children, families, and international audiences. At the heart of Parka is a simple belief: great animation begins with a great story.

​

We develop stories from the first spark of an idea through concept, characters, world-building, screenwriting, and visual development - shaping projects until they have the clarity, personality, and emotional heart to travel across borders.

​

Our work ranges from original feature films and television series to adaptations and commissioned projects. Sometimes we create from scratch. Sometimes we join an existing project and help discover what it really wants to become. What matters to us is not where a story begins, but where it can go.

 

​Storytelling is our craft

We have spent decades creating animated entertainment for international audiences.

That experience covers writing, directing, development, creative producing and production - but also something harder to put on a credit list: knowing how to turn an idea into a story, a story into a film or series, and an ambitious creative vision into something that can actually be produced.

We believe family entertainment can be funny without being trivial, emotional without becoming sentimental, intelligent without becoming complicated, and visually distinctive without losing sight of the characters at its heart.

We love comedy. We love adventure. We love worlds audiences want to enter and characters they want to stay with. And we particularly love that rare moment when story, character, and visual imagination suddenly become inseparable.

Parka Pictures was founded in Copenhagen and has been part of the European animation industry for many years. Today, Parka works closely with its German sister company Zooper Film, combining Scandinavian creative traditions with a strong production base in Germany and an extensive network of producers, studios, broadcasters, distributors, financiers and creative talent across Europe.

This makes international collaboration part of our everyday work rather than an exception to it.

 

We develop our own intellectual properties, collaborate with creators and rights holders, participate in international co-productions and help producers strengthen projects during development: creatively, structurally, and visually.

Our projects may begin in Copenhagen, Ludwigsburg, Berlin, Rome, Paris, Stockholm, or somewhere entirely unexpected. The audience, however, can be anywhere.

Parka Pictures is built around two people who have spent most of their professional lives creating, developing, and producing animation - and who still get excited when a new story begins to work.

Prof. Lilian Klages

Producer · CEO · Partner

Lilian Klages is an experienced European animation producer with a long track record in developing, financing, and producing animated feature films and television projects for international audiences.

Working across Germany, Scandinavia and the wider European industry, she has built an extensive network of producers, broadcasters, distributors, funding institutions, and creative partners. Her particular strength lies in bringing creative ambition and production reality together - finding the structure, partners, and financing that allow distinctive projects to become actual films and series.

Alongside Parka Pictures, Lilian heads the German production company Zooper Film and is Professor of Production Management for Animation and VFX at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg.

She believes producing is not simply about making projects possible. It is about making the right projects possible - without losing what made them special in the first place.

Jesper Møller

Writer · Director · Creative Producer · Partner

Jesper Møller is a Danish animation filmmaker, screenwriter and director whose career spans more than three decades of European animated features and television. He has worked as director, writer, story artist, creative producer, and development consultant on productions made for audiences around the world. Today, his primary focus is story: creating original projects, writing and developing screenplays, shaping characters and worlds, and helping filmmakers and producers discover the strongest possible version of an idea.

Whether developing an animated feature from the first premise, strengthening an existing screenplay, or finding the deceptively simple engine that can sustain a television series, Jesper approaches animation from a filmmaker's perspective: character first, structure with purpose, comedy wherever possible - and always an emotional reason for the audience to care.

Because beautiful animation can make you look. A great story makes you stay.

Big playground!

Parka has never been interested in becoming a factory. We prefer being a creative home: small enough to remain personal, experienced enough to think big, and connected enough to assemble exactly the right international team around each project.​ We work with people we admire. We challenge ideas we believe can become better. We take stories seriously - while trying very hard not to take ourselves too seriously. After all, we make animation... anything can happen!
